Intro to Visualizing Sound with TouchDesigner For Beginners

TouchDesigner is the industry standard tool for interactive visuals in live performance, broadcasting and art installations. In this series of two workshops aimed at musicians and VJs, you will learn the fundamentals to build audio responsive visuals, and get familiar with the TouchDesigner interface and workflow, and connect it to your own setup.

 

TouchDesigner has a free license tier for people who are getting started.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

By the end of these session a successful student will be able to:

  • Navigate the interface and workflow of TouchDesigner

  • Create simple sound reactive visuals in both 2D and 3D 

  • Analyze sound as data and map it to various effects

 

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Kyle Duffield (he/him) is a Toronto based Interactive Experience Design Professional who creates immersive interactive installations and brand activations. He is also known for his affiliation with the studio space Electric Perfume. His decade-plus expertise spans audio, video, creative coding, electronics, and interaction design with the intent of bringing play and multisensory spectacle to public spaces. As an Educator, he has facilitated interactive media courses and workshops with various institutions, galleries, and universities across Canada, Shanghai, the UK, and online. Currently, Duffield is focusing on creating unforgettable technological experiences.

Experience level
