We are very excited to announce our TouchDesigner Event London Summer, taking place at Peckham Audio on June 15th, 2025. This will be our first organized meetup in London, and we're really looking forward to connecting in person with the local TouchDesigner community!
From Derivative, Greg Hermanovic, Isabelle Rousset will be there, with Michel Didier joining as well.
The event runs from 12:00 PM to 11PM, with community presentations throughout the day and a casual social gathering in the evening.
The presentation segment features five in-depth 30-minute talks, followed by the always entertaining and insight-packed quickfire round—four rapid 10-minute presentations.
After a full day of learning, inspiration, and creative exchange, we’ll break for dinner before diving into the evening portion of the event featuring an Open Beamer jam session—a fun (and semi-structured) VJ-style setup where multiple participants project visuals paired with great music all night, courtesy of DJ Harri Pepper, well known in the London scene. A cash bar will be available on site.
There will be plenty of time to catch up with old friends, meet new ones, and enjoy some relaxed socializing throughout the day and evening.
Ticketing is now available on Eventbrite and the full program can now be found here.
This is a small, community-focused event with limited capacity, so we kindly ask that tickets be reserved by and for members of the TouchDesigner community.

We’re especially interested in how people work with TouchDesigner—how they built things in TouchDesigner and its role in solving certain problems. These talks are centered on knowledge and experience-sharing.
Schedule of presenters coming soon.
Richard Burns
Building a live MUTEK performance using POPs
In December 2024, Rich & Miyu collaborated with Kara-Lis Coverdale on a performance for MUTEK, where POPs played a central role in the visual design. In this presentation, they’ll demonstrate how POPs were used to manipulate point clouds and video footage to generate a range of effects throughout the show. Techniques include quantizing point clouds to create graphical overlays and transforming footage into dense particle systems for IMAG-style visuals—rendering scenes with millions of particles in real time.

_RICH&MIYU is a Tokyo based studio founded in 2019 by Miyu Burns (JP) and Richard Burns (EN) working in the field of motion graphics, interactive design, art and research. The relationships between the physical and non-physical and how one would manifest as the other is at the core of their work.
They investigate visions of the imperceptible such as algorithms, laws of nature and social constructs with the process including the scanning and tracking of physical objects to experiment with their form, movement and deconstruction.

Owen Hindley
Depth Scatter Rendering in TouchDesigner
This presentation explores a technique for generating striking point clouds using both simple 3D scenes and 2D textures swept through space. It will cover scene setup, compute shaders, rendering, lighting, and strategies for getting the most out of the resulting particle effects—including some unconventional tricks for generating 3D position data. While parts of the process have been documented online, this session will dive deeper into the technical and creative details.

Masha Rozhnova
Video effects instrument based on casting shadows in 3D
Masha Rozhnova presents a live performance instrument developed in TouchDesigner that explores visual expression through 3D shadow casting. Drawing inspiration from early 2000s album covers featuring abstract light patterns, the system uses simulated lighting and moving occluders to create dynamic, analog-feeling visuals—without relying on hardware synthesizers or SDFs.
The performance embraces a minimal aesthetic, pairing well with minimal music, and offers an intuitive, GPU-friendly workflow that doesn't require advanced mathematical knowledge. Masha will discuss the creative and technical challenges of controlling scene parameters and working with light source placement to avoid shadow aliasing, sharing insights into building a responsive visual instrument driven by light and movement.

Youngjun Chang
PROJECTION SIMULATOR WITH TOUCHDESIGNER
Youngjun Chang will demonstrate the Projection Mapping Simulator, a fully TouchDesigner-built tool developed to support previsualization, prototyping, and live show planning. Developed for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea, the simulator features a timeline editor, cue sheet management, lighting and layer controls, audio and transition tools, and an intuitive interface designed for creative flow.
It enables artists, designers, and technicians to simulate complex projection environments without physical setups—saving time and expanding possibilities for experimentation. Youngjun will walk through the tool’s capabilities live and reflect on the challenges of building it from the ground up.

Machine Learning as Conceptual Bridge: Visualization of Lengger

Patrick Hartono presents his latest research on using neural networks as real-time parametric controllers in generative visual systems—where AI acts not as an image generator, but as a procedural driver of visuals.
Built in TouchDesigner with a custom machine learning model trained on motion capture data from Lengger dancer Rianto, the system translates expressive movement into fluid visual output. Inspired by Lengger, a traditional Indonesian dance known for its fluid, non-binary embodiment, the project explores machine learning as a conceptual and creative bridge between embodied motion and generative form.

They say it takes a village... it certainly takes a community! We’d like to warmly acknowledge and thank our generous supporters and collaborators for helping make this event not only possible, but genuinely enjoyable to plan and produce.
Organizing an event in a city we don’t live in can be a real challenge, and we’ve been incredibly fortunate to lean on the insight, resourcefulness, and generosity of Oliver Ellmers and Moogz Giác Bảo in so many ways while planning this event. This gathering is truly a reflection of their continuous support and enthusiasm.
We’d like to extend our thanks to Andy Corrigan at Re-Production for generously providing both equipment and expertise at a discounted rate—your support has been a huge help in bringing this event together.
A very big and special thank-you to Roy Gerritsen of y=f(x) for once again lending his talents to the event branding and visual assets. We rely heavily on his excellent design sensibilities, good humour, and uncanny ability to wring just about anything out of TouchDesigner—except beach umbrellas, there are limits!
And last but not least, a heartfelt thank-you to our friends and frequent collaborators at Music Hackspace for their invaluable logistical support.
