Motion Graphics and Interaction

This course will explore motion in generative graphical forms and color. Interactive features will allow for immersive and performative artworks. The primary tool for the class will be TouchDesigner, real-time visual programming software. Prerequisite of EDPX 2100 or similar experience with coding. This course will combine in-class instruction with a shared laboratory process of sharing and building together. Because we are working with real-time software, students will be expected to share large numbers of iterations of their work as they tweak and play with variables, nodes, forms, textures, and colors. We will look at motion and evolution over time, timing of elements, how to use and manipulate text, and combine it all to convey complex ideas. The class will also explore how we can apply the motion of the figure into the graphical space as an interaction modality.
