XEEKIN - Rhythm Game Performance in TouchDesigner

Description

This project is a playable rhythm game performance system developed entirely in TouchDesigner. It explores how game mechanics—such as lanes, falling notes, timing judgment, and scoring—can be translated into a real-time audiovisual performance environment.

Instead of relying on falling-note visuals common in traditional rhythm games, this system presents timing cues mapped directly onto drum pads, allowing the performer to play by reading rhythm and timing spatially on the instrument surface. Player input is evaluated in real time based on timing accuracy, triggering immediate visual feedback and performance-driven graphics.

All note data is driven procedurally using TouchDesigner’s CHOP and DAT workflows, allowing flexible control over timing, duration, and structure. The system was designed to support live performance scenarios, enabling precise synchronization between sound, visuals, and interaction.

Details and processes related to the development will be written in another article later.
