In this tutorial, we’ll dive into the magic of metaballs and explore how to create an awesome blob effect while keeping things efficient! We’ll start by breaking down the concept of metaballs and building a solid 3D figure base. Then, we’ll use instancing to generate multiple elements while optimizing performance. To achieve a realistic blob-like appearance, we’ll fake fluidity using blur and trace techniques, adjusting instancing positions for better results.Next, we’ll create geometry for the trace, fine-tune the edges, and enhance the scene with environment lighting. To push the look even further, we’ll apply PBR materials, duplicate elements for more depth, and blend shapes smoothly. Bloom effects will add a beautiful glow, while edge refinements make everything pop.To make the effect more dynamic, we’ll introduce feedback loops, transformations, and additional effects like RGBA delay, luma blur, and a painting effect. With these techniques combined, we’ll craft a visually striking and resource-efficient blob effect!
