With many sensors like the Kinect (and increasingly even less sophisticated hardware) it’s easy to retrieve detailed movement information, but it’s not always easy to figure out how to then visualize that information! Alongside the visual outcome, processing the data itself in interesting ways can be a creative challenge of its own. In this video, Jack DiLaura walks you through creating a motion visualization effect with the Kinect v2. Using creative feedback techniques and converting the Kinect data to a texture, you’ll be able to experiment with the data of the Kinect in a whole new way, while visualizing movement picked up by the Kinect over a flexible window of time.
