Kinetic Typography in TouchDesigner - Part 1 The Fundament For Beginners & Intermediate

In this first part of a multiple part tutorial series we are going to explore a concept we've called 'sentence instancing'. This rather technical part will explore the fundamental steps you need to take for creating a tool where a user can input a sentence and iterate through different shapes and/or animation paths which this sentence will follow. There are a lot of different ways you can generate animation data with this tool, so that's why we've decided to expand this explanation over several parts.

It is useful to have a basic understanding of navigating through Touchdesigner and the basic steps for setting up expressions using Python. Nonetheless, if you copy the steps followed, the result will be the same!

Since we haven't actually planned to whole series the only thing we know is that Kinetic Typography can involve a lot of different techniques… we also don't know where it's going to end (probably never...). We do know we're going to cover text and 'PHYSICS'! Probably somewhere around Part 6 as there are a couple of important steps for understanding this technique.

Furthermore, everyone is free to send us suggestions or examples they would like to see so we can check if we can fit this in somewhere!
