Music: cliff martinez - first sleep

Bartek Szlachcic lives in Wroclaw, Poland and is a graphic designer and electronic music producer interested in visualizing sound with experimental tools. Bartek graduated from The Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wroclaw and has an MFA in multimedia space creation. In December 2011 he was in an artist-in-residency at Culture Lab, Newcastle University where he worked on the animation "Portrait of the Ghost drummer".

Since 2009 he has produced audiovisual works and musical cooperations as ODAIBE and presented his works at numerous festivals across Europe including Scopitone Nantes, Vision'R'Paris, Transvizualia Gdynia, Shiny Toys Mullheim, WRO Biennale Wroclaw, Lunchmeat Praga, Synesthesia Wroclaw and Heineken Open Air Gdynia.

Bartek tells us: Working previously with softwares like Resolume, Max/MSP/Jitter, After Effects and Maya I think that TouchDesigner's modularity connects what I use mostly in all those softwares. But for me it all starts with a sketch...

I've drawn since I can remember and drawing for me is always a starting point when I create animation. I sketch my ideas, try to express feelings and words with lines and shading. Even when I work with software I also draw and visualize ideas on paper. Raw notes are essential in this process.

"Solaris" is an effect of learning TouchDesigner and messing around mainly with particles, forces, animation editor and TOPs. Although I used TouchDesigner 3 years ago for small interactive exercises in university, nearly two months ago I came back to it and hugged strongly :-) Now I work in TouchDesigner on live visuals for an international audiovisual event called "Eklektik Session".

I also plan to use it for VJ'ing workshops at the Audiovisual Technology Centre in Wroclaw where I work as a graphic designer/video editor."
