Inspired by some previous transcoder projects.
Built from the ground up with the help of Claude and friends.
The transcoder.toe file opens in perform mode with the UI.
The AI generated blurb:
TDXvCon — batch video transcoder for TouchDesigner.
It runs a Movie File In TOP into a Movie File Out TOP, so encoding happens on the GPU. A CLI (vcon) talks to the .toe over a local TCP socket. There's a panel with a queue — drag files or a folder in, or use the ADD button.
Codecs: NotchLC, Hap (hap/hapq/hapr/haphdr), ProRes, CineForm, H.264, H.265. Containers: mov, mp4, mkv, webm.
Audio is muxed in afterward with ffmpeg (bundled via imageio-ffmpeg, installed by a button in the setup dialog). You can copy the source track, re-encode to PCM/AAC/ALAC, drop it, or write a separate sidecar file.
Install: pipx install tdxvcon, then vcon. The .toe ships inside the package.
macOS only so far — I haven't tested on Windows. Version 0.1.5, so expect rough edges.
Built it to convert client footage without babysitting Media Encoder. Free, feedback welcome.
