You can now listen to internet radio directly inside TouchDesigner.
MCX Radio is a native custom C++ CHOP: a live stream client with a simulated FM/AM tuner.
Use Station Index or Custom URL for a clean programme, or Dial to tune across a simulated band. Heterodyne or Pocket colour, noise and heterodynes included in this free community version. It also runs as an FX-only scan bed with no stream at all.
I built it because I missed that analog search: not a curated playlist, but turning a knob through static toward a station.
Most digital radio is too precise.
The interesting part, for me, was always the ether in between. So I tried to recreate that noise-filled atmosphere through sound design.
This is the first Community edition of an MCX operator (macOS Apple Silicon and Windows, TouchDesigner 2025.33070+).
No station list is bundled. Explore queries public directories at runtime.
The plugin includes an installer wizard for Mac/Windows + example .toe
Download the release directly from my GitHub repository and run it like any regular application.
Then launch TouchDesigner. Easy peasy (:
