Gestation is a real-time generative digital lifeform experiment created in TouchDesigner.
The project was inspired by a Houdini Gestation Effect tutorial and rebuilt using TouchDesigner’s real-time workflow. It explores organic growth, internal fiber connections, cellular tension, and lifeform division.
The visual system contains three main layers:
1. An organic outer membrane that merges, stretches, and separates.
2. Blue internal connections that link the main regions of the organism.
3. White radial fibers that create an active biological structure.
This is not intended to be a scientifically accurate mitosis simulation. It is an abstract visual interpretation of gestation, growth, connection, and division.
PROJECT FILE
The included TouchDesigner project is shared for study, modification, and further development.
You are welcome to improve:
- The transparent membrane material
- Thickness-based absorption
- Internal line depth attenuation
- Performance and point counts
- Audio-reactive controls
- Body tracking or sensor interaction
- Multi-organism behavior
- Alternative material and visual styles
If you create an improved or modified version, please share your result or technical approach with the community.
