We are very pleased to announce that we are currently planning our second TouchDesigner Summit in Berlin! This will again take place around the time of Transmediale on Saturday and Sunday, February 3rd and 4th, 2018.
Almost 2 years ago we were joined by about 60 people from all over the world for our first Europe-based 'summit' in Berlin. When we asked the community at the time to submit topics they would like to present, we received more proposals than could be stuffed into a single day... but, given enough Club-Mate and the sheer diversity of interesting topics, we figured 12 hours and 11 presentations wouldn't be an issue!
It was a marathon for certain but we left Berlin with an even greater appreciation for our community, your openness to interact and share and of course your tremendous stamina!
Later that year we were fortunate to witness the making of Moscow's TouchFest where through the effort of our Russian Community (Yan Kalnberzin and Evgeniy Afonin as the main instigators), 250 people gathered for 4 days to listen to talks, participate in workshops, and experience the Total immersive interactive chaos intensive of the Interactive Madness Marathon at Vostochnaya Gallery.
We take these experiences as our inspiration and fittingly will be stretching the 2018 TouchDesigner Berlin Summit over two days that again coincide with the last weekend of Transmediale and CTM.
The two days will be filled with workshops, talks and presentations plus enough time to meet and greet.
For this we are opening a call for proposals for workshops, talks and presentations.
||CALL FOR WORKSHOPS, MASTERCLASSES, TALKS & PRESENTATIONS
Proposed workshops should have a duration of 4 hours. The submission should include a good description and short outline of the topics that will be covered and the level of experience with TouchDesigner that is required. Please also specify the number of people that would ideally participate in your workshop.
For talks and presentations we propose 2 formats:
- A longer format of 40 minute talks where a topic can be explained in detail. We ask that these be designed as "knowledge-sharing" vs. "portfolio-viewing" presentations whether they are of a technical or artistic nature.
- We are also looking for people to present on a topic for a maximum duration of 15 minutes. These shorter talks are meant to be an opportunity to introduce yourself and your work to the community.
Masterclasses will be 2 hours in length and will be in the form of a lecture or talk. As per the above we only stipulate that these are approached with knowledge sharing in mind.
Submissions must include a short abstract of your proposed talk. You can also add supporting material via links or file uploads.
Schedule and Deadline
- Deadline for submission: 30th of November 2017
- Submissions, Workshops and Presentations must be in English
We unfortunately cannot provide funding for travel or accommodation.
Stay tuned for updates on program and ticketing and we look forward to hearing from you and look forward to Berlin!
