Test Patterns

Hi!

After one moth working with TD I’m really impressed by the possibilities this program has and being able to combine live visuals with my modular synth performances. I here include 3 videos created with TD and music made by myself. Hope you like them!

Gorgeous works!
I especially like the paste of time and the atmospheric feel in “Test Pattern #2
Your whole channel is overwhelmingly good, gorgeous cinematography. Those mountain & stone pieces are fine art.

Thanks Tehanox for tour kind words!

Nice! You did that after one month of TD?! Damn. I started learning TD just a couple of days ago, so extremely green, but also looking to make visuals to use with my music (incidentally also made by a modular synth). Do you have any tutorials or similar to recommend for that purpose? I’ve found a few good tutorials on Youtube, and have also read quite a bit in the manual, but still find myself a bit overwhelmed by it all. Excellent and inspiring work!

Thanks! Well, I have to say that I used to work with MAX, PD and modular synths before starting with Touchdesigner. In many ways, the way all these programs work is pretty similar, and Touchdesigner is no exception. What I really love about this programs is that you can experiment a lot by doing crazy things like connecting nodes to other things to see what happen. That’s what I did in the first Test Pattern. In the begining it was an experiment to translate shapes into a laser readable format, but then I took sound files and different oscillators and used them to create shapes.
I first started with all the Matthew Ragan tutorials. They are great and Matthew explains things so well. I think is good to see the tutorials and reproduce the examples, and the spend time changing, mangling and doing creative things with them. You will learn a lot.

Now, after a year with TD I think I know a bit more about it, but I guess it’s only a 5-10% of the things I can do with such a HUGE program. Let’s keep learning!!

Excellent! Thanks a lot for your reply. I’ve been following some great tutorials from Bileam Tschepe, they’re great for ending up With something you can just play around With, and I’ve learned a lot along the way, but realize I should get a better grasp at the basics before going too Wild experimenting.

5-10% eh? Cool. I want to use it basically to create short generative graphic Clips for my audio, so don’t really “need” (as if I could, haha) to learn it all, but getting a basic understanding of the operators would be good.

Anyway, thanks a lot for the heads up! Where can I see more of the audio Visual stuff you’ve made? Would love to see it!

By the way - It seems like this forum auto capitalizes Words starting With W, for some reason, Weird, haha. Or maybe it’s my stupid work computer.
