Screen Grab top. 30-50 ms CPU? Any Rez, single monitor

Hello everyone,

Anyone have insight into this?

Getting 30-50ms CPU hit times when using the Screen Grab top.
No other operators added to the default startup scene.
Doesn’t matter how small a section I try to grab or how many monitors are active.
I have a fairly hefty machine (see specs below),
So bug or some form of conflict?
Normal return times on the screen grab?
Seems like I remember it working better than this in past versions of TD.
Unusable for me as is.

I have an exciting idea and I can’t move forward on it without sceengrab. wahhhhh.

TD build: 31900 64bit
Operating system: Windows7.3 ultimate 64bit
CPU: X980 @ 3.33GHZ
Memory: 24GB
Graphics card: Gforce GTX Titan

Yes, the Screengrab uses a old windows API call that is very slow. There is newer ways to do this on Windows 8.1 but we havn’t added it yet.

I’d buy windows 8 right now if it worked!
I really hope this one gets resolved soon.
Maybe I could rig a camera to capture the screen if I have to for now,
such quality loss though and kind of convoluted.

Hey Jim, the new fast Windows screengrab was added over a year ago, sorry to revive an old thread but wondering if you tried it and it works so you. Recent build 2017.16360 fixed some issues and we’re wondering how it is working for people.
