OpenNI support

I have been looking around the forums for any intel on this, but can’t find anything conclusive…

I’m working on a project that uses a PrimeSense sensor. I need to bring the depth image into Touch somehow. I could use a screen TOP to grab what some other framework is generating for me, but I wonder if there is any way I could do this natively and avoid the lag I would get from a screengrab?

Thanks!
Alex

It can be done in a C++ TOP or C++ CHOP. Maybe use openFrameworks as the framework to access the sensor?

back in the day i created a shared memory for this, not sure if it still works
achimkern.de/touchdesigner/kinec … hdesigner/

@achim, I think that one uses the old-style shared memory header if my memory serves me rightly. it might need a recompile with the new headers.

Any chance OpenNI 2 support could make it into the feature-addition queue?
There are workarounds to access OpenNI data of course, but it would be really cool to have it officially supported.

Thanks for all the other sweet features meanwhile! :nerd:

I may ask,
Why do you need it ?

Could it help add compatibility with Structure Core?:
