NURBS Curve question

Hello, I am trying to make a simple NURBS curve that look smooth. I am using multiple Add SOPS on purpose and merging them. I put the exact same parameters on Houdini and it comes out curvy. But in Touch it shows without any interpolation between points, but only interpolation of existing points.

Is there a way for me to get a soft NURBS curve interpolation?

Thank you

Hey, can you post that example .toe file for me to take a look at?

I gave it a shot…
yeah I couldn’t get smooth either without a “resample sop” adding loads of new points.
If you don’t mind the extra points, that seems to work nicely.

try the same yhing in touch 17, I’m sure it does it nicely.

I’ve noticed it with other nurbs models that 0xx doesnt manage to smooth them.

will upload another in a couple of days (away from touch machine right now).

Hi Rodberry,

are you part of derivative team and will upload a new version of TD0xx that will have better nurbs smoothing?

Nurbs and Bezier curve rendering should be smoother in the next version.

You can tell Derivative staff members by the ‘Staff’ label that we all have in our forum name area on the right side of the post.

nah, just an artiste tryin’ to make cool things with touch. :nerd:

I’m also waiting with baited breath to have nice nurbs back again.

hooray for Derivative~!

that was a quick fix. Using TD69 718. NURB’s curve looks good now

Can’t work in 069 yet, so could you please backport this to 068?

If yes, could you please also fix this bug viewtopic.php?f=12&t=422 for 068. One without the other wouldn’t make too much sense here

Thanks a bunch
Achim

Sorry, we won’t be releasing any more 068 builds.

Just let us know the bugs that are keeping you from moving to 069 (vs. everyday bugs that you can live with for a bit) and they’ll get priority to be fixed.
We’re looking at the Keyboard CHOP right now.

haven’t tested my file too much on 069, but it’s mainly the UI.
For example I use the spreadsheet a lot and it’s currently impossible to read the values.
And parameters which are exported to are hardly readable, but this is just annoying as it can be fixed by highlighting the field

On the bug side, this would be:
keyboard CHOP viewtopic.php?f=12&t=421
renderpick CHOP viewtopic.php?f=12&t=422

And a major one which I’ll send via mail

More to come
Achim

The renderpick one isn’t specific to 069 though is it?

Nope :unamused: but without it I’m stuck as there’s no workaround this time

Ok I just wanted to be able to prioritize.

Anyway it looks like curves never supported UVW at all, which is why renderpick was always returning 0s. Curves now support UVW.
