Kinect World Space

Can anyone explain the Kinect world space to me? Is it correct, that the values stay the same, no matter how far up or down and tilted the kinect is, as long as it is in front of the user?

If you’re talking about the Kinect v2, and my memory serves me right, that’s correct.

For the skeleton of the user, it should give you world space position from the front of the Kinect.

For the depth map image, I think that still gives you world space, but there’s no direct reference for how far away a particular grayscale pixel is.
