first, the Grand Harmonical Matrix was exploited to get some nice melodies.
the GHM is a term coined by Jan Ten of http://cymatrix.org and describes the quantity of all integer quotients in n-dimensional space. e.g. a 3d-position is part of the GHM if the result of x / y / z (or any permutation) is an integer.
with the help of a VST made in NI’s Reaktor, certain path’s through 3d-space where defined and the harmonic quotients where sampled and wrapped into meaningful ranges for use as midi-notes. those where used to drive some interesting instruments and the result was roughly mixed together into this tech-ambient like song. (indeed the composition runs forever if you let it, always permuting the original ‘score’, never completely repeating…)
the resulting midi-files where imported to Touch Designer to deform or otherwise influence simple geometries to create the above linked video which you just have to watch now!
