reference in animation comp editor

Just to make this an official request;
It would be nice to have a built-in option of referencing a chop/waveform/spectrogram/other cues or file markers in the animation comp (either as a channel or in the background).

Work arounds are possible with the BGTOP variable, but it could be better implemented than that.

I also tried a script that added keyframes to an animation comp’s channel based on a downsampled audio file but the performance hit due to the number of keyframes is not ideal. (even though it could be removed after use…)

(to anybody at derivative reading this; Greg is well aware of the request and some of the workaround that we tested; namely fileinCHOP into opviewerTOP cropped and sent to bgtop variable and Pete’s spectrograph solution)

Hello!
I wonder if there any update or solution for this topic?
Could not find neither a workaround with bgtop variable (maybe it does not exist anymore), nor any specific parameter for an Animation COMP.
Would be thankful for any help.
